How to Play Kitsune's Scrolls Expanded Edition

Kitsune's Scrolls is a great game to play if you want to take a break from the normal card games. The game can be played with two players or four players. The game can also be played with either a deck of standard playing cards or a regular deck of 52 cards.

To set up the game, each player will need nine cards. Shuffle the cards and deal three cards to each player, face down. Place the remaining cards face down in the middle of the playing area, forming the stock. Turn over the top card of the stock and place it next to the stock, face up. This is the first playe's discard pile.

The object of Kitsune's Scrolls is to remove all of your cards from play. The first player to do so wins the game.

The player who turns over the top card of the stock starts play. On a player's turn they must do one of three things: draw a card, play a card, or discard a card.

To draw a card, shufffle your hand and draw one card from either the deck or discard pile and add it to your hand. Cards of equal rank cancel each other out when played, so you cannot have two sixes in your hand for example. If you cannot draw because there are no more cards left in either pile then end your turn; if you are forced to end your turn in this way you lose the game.

To play a card, match the rank (number) and suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades) of one of your cards with the rank and suit of one of your opponent's cards; then discard one matching card from your hand into their discard pile - for example if you had an ace of clubs and they had an eight of clubs you would put them together in combat and discard an ace of spades). If both players have no more matching cards then end your turn; this is called "combat" and whoever still hascards in their hand at this point loses the round (and therefore also loses th game). Winning a round earns that player two points - unless they were forced to end their turn due to running out off cads on which case they earn only one point

To discards a card, place it faceup ontop off he discard pile - this ends yur turn whether yu have playedaacard or not). You cannot chooce not tp lay downaacard if yku have one just as ylu cannptplacea devaluecard ontothestackifthiscouldcompletetheturn(forexampletwoonescannotbeatanace).
